Mission, Vision, & History
“Where autism and communities grow together.”
The mission of Include Autism is to empower individuals with autism by providing community access and meaningful skill-building programs, while engaging the community through outreach and education.
The successful integration of individuals of all abilities, within the community.
Include Autism is proud to provide the following core programs to achieve our mission:
A community-based, social behavior training program for kids and teens diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder that require a broad range of functional communication and behavior support. Community Coaching utilizes a variety of hands-on evidence-based practices and
ABA approaches to teach skill generalization and socialization in the community.
Our effort to reshape the way the community perceives and
understands autism. By teaching businesses, organizations, and community leaders how to be more accommodating, understanding, and inclusive of individuals with autism, we will help the growing autism population to become more integrated into our community as active and contributing customers, participants, and employees.
A hands-on learning experience for typically developing individuals to volunteer as friends and mentors to youth with autism through the Community Coaching program. A Peer Pal and Volunteer can obtain valuable experience and education about Autism Spectrum.
Disorders and see first hand how capable and important these individuals are in our community.
Provides an included baseball experience to youth diagnosed with autism guided by their typically developing peers, offering opportunities to raise autism awareness and build friendship experiences throughout the northern San Diego County through America’s Favorite Past time.
We invite you to join us in our efforts to Include Autism throughout all aspects of the community!
Include Autism, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, began as Community Coaching Center (CCC) in San Diego in 2003. The community-based social behavior program was founded by Include Autism’s Executive Director, Tina Waters, MA, Autism Specialist with the goal of providing school-aged individuals with autism the experiences and support they needed to become active and included members of their community. Starting out over 13 years ago with just three participants and two staff, Community Coaching has grown to meet the increasing demand for autism services. Now serving clients across San Diego County and running several outreach and education efforts, the organization takes on a much bigger role as Include Autism – a comprehensive nonprofit organization that facilitates and promotes autism inclusion in all aspects of the community.
